July 20. Monday, Busy Day.

Eating alone is so boring! And eating ribs alone is f*cking boring! And difficult, cause I can't even cut them properly. My boyfriend is on a business trip, so I'm the queen of the apartment. I haven't cleaned the kitchen as I promised to myself. Right now I'm holding a piece of pork ribs in my right hand and I'm typing with two fingers of my left hand (my other fingers are oily, but even if they weren't - I can't type with all ten fingers). THIS is a perfect moment I wish I would not be hungry. Never ever. I want to type, not eat. I know there's an option of voice typing but I'm chewing at the moment, so... I like to complicate things.

It's annoying to have a fast metabolism. You can imagine what I've just done (for the fourth time today, and I'm not even on my period. I don't know what's happening to me but apparently I'm not meant to weight over 52 kilos this year). For those who mind reading a bit about excretion: don't read this blog!

. . .

Today is Monday. I had 7 lessons of 60 minutes. 420 minutes (I had to use a calculator for that, it's been a while since I had math lessons, plus I'm lazy to do math). I haven't had much free time until after 7 pm and instead of sitting down and eating my dinner in peace I'm here typing while listening to music because I got the idea to start this blog. As I said in the intro: I can't prioritize. Or I often ignore my primary needs. It's 8:46 pm and I'm holding another piece of pork ribs. The other one was too difficult to chew. I chew a lot. When I was a little girl, my mum would always tell me: "Chew a lot!" (actually she said it in Czech: 'Pěkně kousej!', which literally means 'chew nicely' - something like 'chew thoroughly'). I've been chewing ever since.

It's summer, so I love everything. Only few things can put me in a bad mood:
  • technology
  • feeling sleepy
  • feeling hungry
(I told you I like making lists)
Now, let me tell you how great my busy day has been:

Breakfast: smoothie

9:30-11:30. Lesson 1.
I feel so sleepy but I'm happy to have a lesson with Mrs M (I'm not going to give my student's names.) She has low self-confidence, I like to praise and she often thanks me for my patience at the end of the lesson. She has problems with listening exercises. I hope one day she won't. Although it's a 120 minute lesson, it goes by quickly. Among practicing other things we read through the menu of my favorite restaurant The Tavern, where they make excellent burgers. I usually don't like hamburgers because I have a problem eating beef, but these ones are delicious! I feel like having the Classic Bacon-Cheddar burger, mmm...

Snack: toasted bread with hummus

11:40-12:40. Lesson 2.
Mrs E came in smiling. She is 59 and she wants to practice English to be able to speak a bit when traveling. We speak about restaurants and practice how to order drinks and food. I admire her handbag, it's white, black, blue and red and it all combines with her clothes. She tells me she is going to retire and she won't be able to have the lessons anymore as she lives 40 minutes away from my town and it won't be convenient for her to commute.
"I feel so bad that I don't have a gift for you. I thought I would just give you this tip." She hands me a bank note. I've just got paid 100% more for this lesson. I love my job! I want more last lessons like this hahaha.

Snack: black tea with milk, delicious chocolate-coconut cookies

13:00-14:30. Lesson 3.
I go to Mrs M.K.'s house. She's my new student who I started teaching 3 weeks ago. Our lessons will finish at the end of July because she goes back to China with her husband and the kids. She is waiting for me in front of the house. "Get in! We are going to the restaurant by the swimming pool." I so agree. The weather is too nice to stay indoors. We start the lesson in the car and she gets distracted and misses a few turns. Haha, the same thing would happen to me, I guess. We order homemade lemonade and I ask for a Greek salad. We are chat and every now and then I observe how good she looks without makeup. I explain the difference between present perfect simple and continuous. I make gestures to show the difference between for and since and repeat patiently that we often use PP simple when mentioning how much an activity has been going on and PP continuous for how long. Czech and English are so different that it is difficult to grasp the logic of English. But once you do, you feel like a king!

I run to Vodafone store to get a new sim card for my new phone. :-) They are nice enough to help me pass my contacts.

Snack: Protein bar

15:30-17:00. Lesson 4.
I thought this would the last lesson of the day but I got a call from my other student asking if we were meeting today evening. I said yes because I want to have tomorrow evening off.
Miss V is pretty and she's the smartest student I've ever had. She used to be a complete beginner before June 29th. We've now had 7 lessons of 90 minutes and she knows how to use:
  • present simple and continuous
  • past simple and continuous
  • passive
  • countable and uncountable nouns

And she reads and pronounces well, too!

Snack: A banana, cappuccino

17:30-18:30. Lesson 5.
Mr M picks me up outside my flat. He is now my only male student. He might be sixty, I don't know. He comes from Croatia and he's really tall, has a belly but a strong build - he used to do a lot of sport. His hair has turned white but I would say he's handsome. And charismatic. I look at his thick calves when he gets up make me a cappuccino. I didn't use to drink that either. Once again, taste changes as we get older. Mr M is cool. He's usually in charge of the lesson. Today he came up with the idea to translate Facebook statuses from his English speaking relatives. It was hilarious. I explained what 'WTF' and 'effed' means and we LOLed :-D. At the end we had a look at this:

I agree with it so much!

I absolutely loved my lessons today. It's been a busy day but tomorrow I'm free most of the day and my friend and I are going swimming!

Dinner that lasted forever: pork ribs, bread, grilled zucchini, salad.
Cereal with milk.

Today's song is Dogs by Damien Rice. I've listened to it three times. I did a bit of yoga this morning so that's why it came to my head.

Dobrou noc.
